Senior Software Engineer – Deformation Systems

Engineering Team

  • Location: Remote within the USA, (with occasional travel for in-person meetings, tradeshows, and conferences as needed)
  • Reporting: Software Engineering Manager

This position requires daily interaction with a remote team, so you’ll need the ability to function as both a self-starter and a team player to succeed. If that sounds good to you, we want to hear from you!


What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

  • Design and implement high-performance deformers for character animation pipelines.
  • Architect scalable deformation systems within Ozone’s proprietary platform.
  • Collaborate with artists, riggers, and engineers to ensure tools meet both creative and technical needs.
  • Lead architectural decisions and contribute to long-term planning for animation and deformation tech.
  • Profile and optimize CPU and GPU performance for both real-time and offline workflows.
  • Develop and integrate features for DCC tools and real-time engines (Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine).
  • Operate as a trusted partner to Product and Engineering in shaping the technology roadmap.
  • Contribute to documentation, technical standards, and internal knowledge sharing.

What success looks like

Over the next year:

  • Significantly advance Ozone’s rigging and animation capabilities across Maya, Unreal Engine, and
    desktop standalone environments.
  • Create cutting-edge deformation components for a high-quality, performant, maintainable and
    extensible codebase.
  • Deliver features that measurably improve rigger and animator workflows and resulting content quality

What you bring

You have proven experience and qualifications including:

  • 5+ years of production experience in film, TV, or games, developing deformation and advanced rigging
    technologies.
  • Expert-level C++ (C++20) and object-oriented design. Proficient in Python.
  • Strong understanding of geometry processing, 3D math, linear algebra, and character deformation
    techniques.
  • Experience building tools and plugins for DCC applications and engines (Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine).
  • Familiarity with GitHub or other version control packages.
  • Proven effectiveness thriving in a fully remote, high-accountability, distributed team.
